Well whats missing from the work of writers using the Trauma Plot a bit too much these days is happy endings/hope/faith/tomorrow will be a better day sort of thing.
The point about trauma/suffering not being special is well made.
Generating some hope and faith in people doesn't require making them believe their suffering is special.
The whole argument is flawed, there is no balance, no mention that there are at least some people who
are genuinly empathetic ,compasionate, and able to hear others, and offer real eficatious advise.....or not.....as there is a great deal of malingering ,validation seeking, compensatory permission seeking, and other maladaptive behaviors.
It has literaly become an economy where suffering has value and prestige, and is the foundation of the saftey industry.
