I genuinely can't tell sometimes if like we're fundamentally this different, or if politicians intentionally frame things in a way that they know is maximally divisive.
I'm not saying that protecting free speech doesn't mean defending people's right to use slurs, but putting it front and center of the argument feels ridiculous to me. It's such a bizarre distraction from solving any of the problems we have in society.
