Most informal obligations between people follow a predictable sequence, but we rarely model them explicitly, so default rates tend to be high.

Will lowering the barriers to settlement reduce default?

    IOU Wallet protocol (schematic) at a high level: → A creates obligation → B accepts → B settles → A confirms settlement

We built a small web app that treats this as a protocol using trust as consensus mechanism. It helps both parties to record, remind and to settle open obligations.

This is still early and experimental. I’m curious whether HN sees this as:

    - A real modeling gap in social tooling? - Something people intentionally keep ambiguous?
