I use Claude Code, OpenCode, and Codex CLI every day. They're great at writing\ncode, but I have no idea what they're doing while they work. Tokens burn with no\nvisibility, context fills up silently, and when a session ends everything the\nagent learned is gone.

Sidekick is a VS Code extension and standalone terminal dashboard that sits\nalongside your AI coding agent and shows you what's happening in real time.

\nIt auto-detects\nwhich agent you're running.

What it shows you:

- Live token and cost tracking with burn rate\n- Full tool call timeline — every file read, write, bash command\n- Session mind maps (force-directed graph in VS Code, tree in terminal)\n- Destructive command alerts (rm -rf, force push, drop table)\n- Decision log and knowledge notes that persist across sessions\n- Session export to markdown, JSON, or text

It also does inline completions, code transforms, and commit messages using your\nexisting Claude subscription or API key — but the monitoring is the part I think\nis missing from the ecosystem.
