I was remarking a few days ago that I remember just a small number of years ago when I would use an app on my cell phone and with some luck, catch a glimpse of a passing satellite (especially Iridium flares).

Now there are so many satellites at all moments of the day and night that this little bit of joy is completely gone.

Back then, spotting the glint from a satellite was a fun and rare treat. Now depending on where the sun is, you can pretty much guess when a good time to see them comes up, and then you'll trail several of them across the entire sky until you get bored and go back to bed. No reason to concern yourself with mere flares anymore, sadly. (Even though sometimes those were exceptionally bright!)
