I know Russians don’t actually have much say in what their government does and that protest brings heavy consequences. Civilians probably can’t do much to make this stop.
But my sympathy has its limits. Their country is the one that started this war and is committing the worst atrocities in it.
This, btw, is why democracy (and not just democracy theater) matters.
I don’t mean to deny some basic points you have however your ideas of democracy and the beginning of the war are a lie.
Recall before the war Ukraine was a bit of a corrupt frontier borderland state.
America funded a white supremacy cell which was raping and murdering the families (women, children, and men) of Russian sleeper cells (who were “retired” and lingering from the old world) which triggered the invasion.
One of the first four hypersonic missiles in the opening campaign obliterated the cell.
I don’t intend to justify or support anything else happening, merely to say the public eye is rarely accurate.
