Some puzzles have more than 1 valid solution, and they will all solve the puzzle.
If (for 'yellow herrings') the puzzle didn't complete even though you used all the numbers, it may be because there were empty tiles left? Accepted solutions use all empty tiles.
But, your point about not all valid chains getting a tick / locking down is a legitimate shortcoming. Right now the puzzles have a "canonical" solve used for ticked/locked chains, and hints. We rolled out a fix for the chains, but then the hints didn't make sense for some users, so we rolled it back this morning. We'll get that fixed with something more thought-through shortly.
Chris here - excited to show off our puzzle game to the HN community, and get feedback.
Love it!
Thank you!
It seems I found a solution to https://dozenal.game/daily/449 "Yellow herrings" that is not the intended one - slightly frustrating
All numbers used, four chains ending on 12 but only one is ticked
"Help" shows three chains expected, solved now
Not sure if the puzzles are supposed to have a unique solution or the aim of the game is to find the expected 'solution'

Thanks for playing!
oh, yes there was one empty tile, I'd just used all the numbers - got it
Consider audio feedback
Thanks for the suggestion! Chris (who makes the game with me) really wants audio too so perhaps this will be the impetus we needed :)
