I don't think reddit will survive for much longer, it's going to go away just like stackoverflow and reason for this is going to be their increasing hostility towards subreddit specific mod.
Increasingly, difficult system which bans you for life. Most average user can't work past it. Also their "removed by reddit" algo.
Reddit problems aren't caused by AI, like at all. On the contrary, a good moderation policy would only gain value from AI and benefit users. However, the main business objective of Reddit is discourse control, just like every other highly promoted soc-med outfit.
What people like or not doesn't matter outside of that, Reddit's falling into oblivion is business going by plan - it will be shut down as soon as it loses its controlling grip or another entity assumes its role with "better" results.

Perhaps, rather than AI, Reddit’s growing hostility to its own users might be the main driver of users away from Reddit.
+1 i had a reddit account maybe 10 years ago and deleted it for this same reason. can only imagine how insufferable it is today.
In other words, AI is destructive and hostile to the very thing it needs to flourish --- new content to summarise.
