The simplicity of FreeBSD really shines here. I recently performed the same task with Ubuntu 24.04. It seemed daunting due to various Linux-isms and Canonical’s anemic public documentation. Warp terminal got the job done. It blew through half a month’s tokens on the Build subscription tier. With FreeBSD, the task fits very nicely into just a short blog post.

Nice. Not so much a FreeBSD as a ZFS feature?

      Its both actually.

This is strictly the FreeBSD part:

          freebsd # gpart backup ada1 | gpart restore nda0

          freebsd # gpart backup ada1 | gpart restore nda1

The ZFS part comes later :)
