She was a founder, influential and one of the most liked people in the world. Seems fine to me.

I mean, her name ringed a bell, but it does not seem like her popularity crossed the Atlantic (not as much as other artist, I mean.)

For some weird reason HN really likes to talk about US celebrities after they die. Hulk Hogan got a big discussion thread too.
