    I guess all modern languages are basically ALGOL or Forth.

    You've got weird shit like Python, which looks like Algol when you write it but looks like Forth once you've compiled it, the .pyc files are damn near human-readable if you understand stack machines.

    You know what this here language needs? A TurboVision-based IDE.

      Kate is close in feel to TurboWhatever IDEs (and used them, pascal, C, C++ back in the days)
