Hearing about it from privacy activists and movements like stop killing games is a little devastating, the law in this shape should not pass and its horrible that it even is drafted/proposed in it's current shape.

Explain please, I am not familiar with the opinions of "privacy activists" in this matter.

Mandatory age verification everywhere, with varying level of privacy concerns. Tying your digital presence to identity, with service providers forced cooperation in this endeavor.

And for the online gaming mandatory external age verification services, which will only permit existence of official servers and cost an arm and a leg.

And like many great minds before me said: "It's never just about kids" when people talk about kids safety, so often this is used to push unfavorable laws cuz "think about the kids!!"

If these people were serious, they would simply forbid children under—say—16 years of age from using the internet unless an adult is present in the room. Using computers without an internet connection should remain permitted, provided there is no harmful content on the device.
