    Absolutely not.

The bubonic plague is easily treated with modern antibiotics.

It is also stoppable with contact tracing. As happened with, for example, SARS. Which is why something like 200 people have been tested.

Plague itself shows up fairly often. Particularly in the Congo. Something like 1000 cases a year.

The only interesting thing about this one is that it might have been weaponized in some way. But, even so, it's not going to be a big deal.

Presumably it would only be international air travel?

It would depend on some things that I don't know. I don't understand how transmissible it is from person to person. (I mean, if it is very transmissible at all, a plane is a perfect environment to transmit it...)

I don't know whether this is a modified plague, one that is susceptible to the usual antibiotics. I don't trust Russia to tell us the truth about it, either.

So, with all that, I don't know. I'm leaning against, but... it might be necessary.
