Focus and Flow interruption is my personal biggest annoyance when going from one OS to another. My brain goes berserk the moment I have to move the hand from the keyboard to dismiss a dialog box or change focus, resize a window.
On windows Total Commander has been a go-to tool to navigate filesystem, connect to remote systems, inspect files quickly, find stuff without having to fiddle around explorers, slow context menus, unzip a whole archive when all you need is to inspect a single configuration file.
I'm a huge fan of omarchy.. I can be productive within 5 minutes of fresh install, the defaults are good close enough to remove the flow obstacles. OSX, needs a bit of work.
Holos Commander is a TUI based explorer, if you've played around with Total Commander, you'll feel at home and then some. the Panel list supports a wide range of vfs - ISO, IMG (FAT, ext2/3/4, SquashFS), Archives (zip, rar, 7z, tar, gz). The panel listing has integrated git status including entering a revision and diff, copy files as if they were physically there.
Sharing files with other computers in your network has never been easier. WebDav/HTTP Serve a folder? serve selected files? Local send? sure, access remote sftp/ssh? S3? sure.
oh did I mention, why not enter a sqlite database and copy/inspect some records? why not.
Viewer has full rendering capabilities, markdown:yes, syntax highlight:yes, hexviewing with template offset support: yes, automatic diff? yes.
list goes on..
Architecture: VFS traits, future safe, let me know whats missing.
(Linux/OSX) try it:
npx holos-installer
tech: rust, no unsafe rust.
and for the love of omarchy, theme is inherited or pick one of 21 themes bundled..
