Good. France has no business interfering with the world's DNS resolvers in the name of piracy i.e. making media companies richer and ironically shooting them in the foot by crippling the CDNs they rely on

The person behind this legal warfare is the beIN Sports chairman, Nasser Al-Khelaifi. He is also president of Paris Saint-Germain and chairman of Qatar Sports Investment. He is, obviously, not French.

His self-claimed annual income was about $15–25 million, and his personal wealth was about $70–100 million.

In another case a French judge just ordered VPNs to block sites Mr Al-Khelaifi wants

If you really think about it a DNS service is simply a relay and a cache gathered from the decentralized nameserver cluster. If debrid services can stream actual copyrighted works without getting into trouble because they're simply a downloader (and cache), surely a dns resolver would be put into the same bucket?

What you said is magnitudes too complicated for lawmakers to understand. We will continue to have this problem until the voting public demands more tech literate representation (doubtful).

More tech-literate representation would just be more effective at coming up with filesharing blocking solutions that actually work. What we should do is vote for people who will restrict copyright laws to reasonable proportions.

What about a copyright protection for a live sporting event is “unreasonable”?
