How many developers will have worked on Half Life 1&2 vs ones who worked on DotA2 or Deadlock? I am not sure its going to be for the same target audience anymore.
Half-Life: Alyx was damn good too though, often considered the best of the entire VR category. Still 6+ years ago itself at this point... but I wouldn't count Valve out just because they don't push a new game every year.

Meh. The Valve that made Half-Life and even Half-Life 2 doesn't exist anymore. I'm not confident that today's Valve would make a worthy successor.
