Lisa Petrides (ISKME.org) interviews Matthias Kirschner, president of the Free Software Foundation Europe. He started using GNU/Linux in 1999 and joined FSFE in 2004 while studying political and administrative science.

The conversation is about why software freedom matters to people who don't write code: the urge to tinker, share and collaborate, and how the rights to use, understand, adapt and share software support free speech, a free press and privacy.

He also wrote a children's book, Ada & Zangemann – A Tale of Software, Skateboards, and Raspberry Pi, and they talk about teaching these ideas to kids. See: https://oercommons.org/courseware/lesson/148480/overview

This season of the "Educating to Be Human" podcast is about people working to keep access to information and knowledge open and decentralized.
