Social coordination and awareness are two good reasons.

The internal skirmish is an example of society pushing back on the likes of Palantir, Andruril, Flock - generalizing to the elites and oligarchy who are constructing the same global dynamics that preceded WW2.

It's a bit of a stretch, but I'm sure there is a contingent hoping to use a global war to escape/go unnoticed with their ill-gotten gains. But yeah, elites and oligarchic power need to be the forefront of most discussions until it is no longer a problem.
The thread mingles several topics, including someone's personal views on gender.
What's the concrete idea in this case?
Excommunicate this one guy for their views on gender and marriage? Is it to change the Haskell license to prevent Anduril from using Haskell at all (since the submission headline is made up to target this one company)? Or what?
Regardless, I fail to see why this is interesting material for Hacker News.
I think the idea from the comment I was referring to was that organizations like Haskell are grappling with the concept of being discretionary when it comes to letting Anduril and others launder their own war-profiteering through Haskell's reputation.
Hacker News is whatever is interesting to the people on it, myself, verdverm and others find this interesting. Therefore it is here.
What's your goal of dragging this internal skirmish in the Haskell community to Hacker News?

It largely seems to be not allowing Anduril to post jobs on their forum
Wow. They’ve singled out Anduril for what reason? Or do they have principles that govern who can post jobs
